Coming to climbing from a running background made the sport that much more interesting for me. Climbing breaks down into more of an even split between mental, technical and physical while running is skewed into mostly the physical category.
That type of even split is what led me to really enjoy climbing when I first tried it and why I keep going back to it as a cross-training activity.
I’ve climbed all around New Mexico, but I especially love Las Conchas for its easily accessible sport-climbing and U-Mound for nearby bouldering. I’m also currently building a home climbing wall, which has been an interesting project.
